TRACK ATLAS vs Shopify's Facebook & Instagram app
Shopify's free Meta app already uses the Conversions API. When that is enough, and when a server-side tracking app adds something.
Short answer: Shopify's free Facebook & Instagram app sends events to the Meta Conversions API when you set customer data sharing to Enhanced or Maximum. For a store that only advertises on Meta, that can be enough. TRACK ATLAS adds Google Ads and Pinterest, shows delivery status sale by sale, and reports attribution, ad spend and profit across channels.

Shopify's data sharing levels
- Standard: the Meta pixel only, which ad blockers can stop.
- Enhanced: the pixel plus the Conversions API, sharing name, location, email and phone.
- Maximum: the pixel plus the Conversions API with Meta's latest advertising technology.
Which to choose
- Stay with the free app if Meta is your only ad channel and you read results in Ads Manager.
- Add TRACK ATLAS if you also run Google Ads or Pinterest, want to see delivery problems before they cost you, or want one report of which channels and ads made a profit. Use one Conversions API sender per pixel.
Questions
Does Shopify's Facebook app use the Conversions API?
Yes, at the Enhanced and Maximum customer data sharing levels. The Standard level uses the pixel only.
Do I need TRACK ATLAS if I only advertise on Meta?
Not necessarily. If Meta is your only channel and the free app's Maximum setting works for you, start there. TRACK ATLAS adds Google Ads and Pinterest, delivery diagnostics, and attribution and profit reporting.
Can I run both?
Running two Conversions API senders for the same pixel risks double counting unless both use the same event ids. Pick one source of server events per Meta pixel.
